File #005 action : video
[A weekend of lost memories - it sat poorly with her, especially when she went back over her notes and found them missing as well. The dates for the weekend were written in her hand, but anything she'd written had been erased. Or maybe she hadn't written anything. The most concerning thing was that now that the weekend had ended, several people had gone missing or returned. Two days was a long time to lose her bearings and it made her restless. Which was why she'd gone to the shop to look around for anything useful.
Last thing she expected was to find the glove and eyeglass set - something so useful just left here like it was a new toy to be experimented with by anyone in the village. Something about it drew her to using it, but after the first day and the headaches, she realized it was probably something that belonged to someone. Which is why a few days later, after the headaches settle, she asks the village.]
Agent Carter reporting in with a few questions for the village.
One: Has anyone lost a pair of these? [She holds up the sunglasses, labeled ARI on the side to the camera.] I located them in the shop - interesting technology you have. I'd like to return them, if you're inclined to receive them.
[It packs one hell of a punch anyway, and she does not want that anymore. Peggy rubs her temple as he sets the glasses down out of view.]
Two: Sparring partners - hand to hand combat, preferably advanced non-magic practitioners. Willing to train people new to it, but more looking for practice myself. Can also train or spar in weapons - guns or knives specifically.
Three: On a more personal note, to my roommates - if you don't start cleaning your areas and picking up your things, I will do it for you.
[She looks straight into the camera with her usual no-nonsense look in her eyes.]
You will not enjoy it if I am forced to do so.
That is all.

[Action - next day, morning]
At 8:00AM, she's there, dressed in her usual blue pencil skirt, heels and white blouse. It's a bit chill out so she has on a brown overcoat, underneath which is strapped her throwing knives and two axes. Carter is stretching, readying herself for the usual exercise, but also keeping an ear out for anyone approaching. First, the heavy duty workout - she takes out an axe and pitches it at the paper target in front of her: nailing it straight in the head.]

He arrives in time to see the axe strike the target. Impressive. She's not as tall as Ginia, though the shoes are a bit misleading. They make him lift an eyebrow, because they appear entirely inappropriate for combat wear.
His arms are folded under the cloak, wings back and tucked under the jacket so they won't get in the way.]
Not bad. But it only counts if you can do it again.
no subject
I wouldn't be doing this if-- [She launches the second axe at a different target, further away, right into the head. After confirming the kill, she turns to see him.] --I couldn't. Good to see you.
no subject
Yeah.
[he doesn't have much experience throwing blades, so she's got an edge (ha...ha...) on him there.]
How d'you wanna start?
no subject
[She goes to the first target and wrenches the axe out, flipping it around as she walks over to hand it to Levi.]
Or would a knife fight better suit you?
no subject
[flatly, but he takes it, feeling the weight. He's not really spent much time throwing axes. Knives are closer to what he works with.]
I usually use longer blades, but knives will work.
no subject
[She leaves the first axe with Levi and goes to retrieve the second, working it out of the wood and the paper target. She hefts it in her hand, wondering how much longer until she needs to sharpen the edge as she walks back.]
Longer blades as in swords or something else? If you'd rather spar with blades face to face, we may want to move to the Battle Dome.
no subject
[detachable blades for fighting giant humanoids. Not quite the same. He waits for her to return back to the starting line before testing the weight and feel of the axe with a couple of mock throws.
Levi gives a hard swing of his arm suddenly with a light grunt, and the axe thunks into the wood right at the throat of the paper outline.]
no subject
[She watches him test the weight and then raises an eyebrow at the accuracy he has despite not having apparently used these before. She looks over at him from the corner of her eye and hands the second one off.]
no subject
He takes the second, rotates it around a couple of times with his wrist.]
Man-eating titans.
[the second axe buries itself in the chest.]
no subject
It wouldn't be the strangest thing I've heard of since coming here. By titans, I take it you mean large humanoids and not the creatures of Greek myth?
no subject
Yeah. They vary in size, but they all seem to have one singular mind to consume humans, and they have only one weak spot.

[Perhaps one of the most frightening parts about it is that there isn't even a biological drive. As far as any of them can tell, there is no real compelling reason.]
no subject
You must have been in the group asking about that specialized gear, yes? I heard the chatter on the network.
no subject
Possibly. I wasn't participating personally. The gear was developed specifically for fighting the titans.

[Carter hands Levi one of the axes, keeping the other for herself.]
It was my business to know back home - I've tried to keep up with it here.
no subject
[people have been incredibly forthcoming with their information thus far, as far as he's discerned. Others less so - those who actually know the value of information.
He tests the weight of the axe again, but waits for her move.]

[She remembers reading the Guide when she first arrived. It was a good primer, but it didn't prepare her for the long stretches, the drafts and fighting, watching people disappear, seeing how it would affect the ones left behind. The psychological torture of being in Luceti couldn't be written about in some book and no one would ever talk about it just by being asked.
Peggy turned back to the target range, pivoted and threw the axe horizontally, severing one of the hanging dummies at the neck. The axe thumped into a tree a few feet behind it.]
Don't you agree?
