[A weekend of lost memories - it sat poorly with her, especially when she went back over her notes and found them missing as well. The dates for the weekend were written in her hand, but anything she'd written had been erased. Or maybe she hadn't written anything. The most concerning thing was that now that the weekend had ended, several people had gone missing or returned. Two days was a long time to lose her bearings and it made her restless. Which was why she'd gone to the shop to look around for anything useful.

Last thing she expected was to find the glove and eyeglass set - something so useful just left here like it was a new toy to be experimented with by anyone in the village. Something about it drew her to using it, but after the first day and the headaches, she realized it was probably something that belonged to someone. Which is why a few days later, after the headaches settle, she asks the village.]

Agent Carter reporting in with a few questions for the village.

One: Has anyone lost a pair of these? [She holds up the sunglasses, labeled ARI on the side to the camera.] I located them in the shop - interesting technology you have. I'd like to return them, if you're inclined to receive them.

[It packs one hell of a punch anyway, and she does not want that anymore. Peggy rubs her temple as he sets the glasses down out of view.]

Two: Sparring partners - hand to hand combat, preferably advanced non-magic practitioners. Willing to train people new to it, but more looking for practice myself. Can also train or spar in weapons - guns or knives specifically.

Three: On a more personal note, to my roommates - if you don't start cleaning your areas and picking up your things, I will do it for you.

[She looks straight into the camera with her usual no-nonsense look in her eyes.]

You will not enjoy it if I am forced to do so.

Mostly because we get tired of hearing men do it so often.

As for why I care? You act as though I should loathe you instinctively when my only interaction with you has been here, in this bedlam of a village. Or are you saying I should and cut you off from another woman who won't brag or berate you?

Oh, you would have a field day in Asgard.

[...now that is a curious thing indeed. Though Loki would argue that she doesn't know him at all. He isn't an easy person to know even when he's on friendly terms with someone. It's by design.

But there is a hint of thoughtfulness in his tone when he replies.]

I merely expected you to take your lover's part in this little spat. Humans tend to stick together, all that.

[He snorts.]

I always did get on better with ladies.

[Though he knows enough about Peggy now to be very suspicious. Jane had inserted himself into his life with the very unsubtle goal of spying on him. He wouldn't be surprised if Peggy is playing a similar angle, but is much, much better at it.

Still that could be useful. He needs to perpetuate the story of his death.]

Only if they let me bring my firearm, I suspect.

[Because what she's heard of Asgard, it's pretty much a given that she'd need to display her strength and force people to respect her. ....Which isn't a whole lot different from what she had to do here or even back in New York.]

It's more than a little spat and part of the reason he doesn't like you might have to do with how you make light of what you did. But, as I said, I don't know you, so I can't just assume from what I've heard despite their sources. Information needs to be corroborated before it can be believed.

Bring what you like. I'd find it very amusing. [One corner of his lips quirks up.] Were I alive for it. But one can always dream.

[He rests his chin on one hand.]

Ah, but you see, Lady Carter. On the scale I play the game, it was but a spat. And it is not in my nature to be serious about most things. I shall never manage the level of gravitas Steve would find suitable, I think.

[Because he really, really does not give a fuck about much of anything. But no need to voice that.]

[...That was something she hadn't heard from either Steve or Thor. She'd thought Loki had survived the Battle of New York and had returned to Asgard as a prisoner - supposedly for life. If he'd been executed, Thor would have been acting very differently - unless he didn't know, of course. Suddenly, Peggy found herself cursing the lack of people from the future for an entirely different reason.]

I'm sorry to hear that. Then again, if you brought me over from a time when I was alive, I'm certain we could work something out.

Unlike you and Steve, apparently. You could at least try not to goad him to anger over it. If it came down to a fight, I'm afraid I'd have to take his side.

Oh, you didn't know? I got myself well stabbed on Svartalfheim, protecting Thor and Jane. Dead in the glorious stupidity of battle. [He smiles thinly.] And ended up here instead of Valhalla. Aren't we all lucky?

But Lady Carter. He's so cute when he's angry. He does this thing with his eyebrows and looks a bit like an angry bunny rabbit. I really can't resist.

[Wow, he was...open about that. Peggy stared at the video for a moment, then cleared her throat.] He hadn't mentioned anything of the sort, but at least you have another chance here.

[And that aside, Peggy sighs.]

May I at least request that you try? I'd really rather not have to shoot at you.

It's rather past Thor's point in the timeline. [Loki shrugs.] I was...lucky...enough to have a jaunt back to Asgard prior to the solstice. [Haven't been paying attention, Peggy?]

I think our truce has worked out thus far. What more do you want?

[So that was when things had changed. Peggy remembered his disappearance, but hadn't realized so much had gone on in the short time he was away. She'd been watching, but she was always watching since habits died hard.] Ah, I see. A rather unfortunate jaunt it seems.

As for what I want? Peace in the village - without people's hackles raising at the mere mention of each other. I've had enough of tension with the war.

Unfortunate for me. I purchased the life of my brother in battle with my blood, so he's doing well enough, I expect.

I don't see how that is really under my control. I am what I am, Lady Carter. And as a dead man, I find I have few concerns left in the world.

[....The life of Thor? He actually sacrificed himself for Thor? Peggy almost raised an eyebrow at that, but kept her reaction internal, instead lowering her eyes as if she was realizing something new.]

But you still have concerns, perhaps not in that world, but in this one. And it concerns us all to keep the peace here, don't you agree? I'd rather not have someone start a fight because you pushed them too hard in the wrong direction, or vice versa.

[His eyebrows go up slightly.]

If someone is fool enough to find the limits of my patience, I will do what I deem necessary. I am no creature to be tamed, Lady Carter.

Neither are you so foolish to do something brash that might cause you grief - or so I hope.

[Dryly:] I am well versed in the cause of my own survival when it comes to the use of my tongue. But your concern is very dear.

Concern not just for you, but for whomever is stupid enough to press your buttons. Especially considering your apparent change of heart in regards to your brother. I thought the two of you didn't get along.

Most brothers don't.

[It's more the fact that he will even call Thor his brother now.]

Not all brothers go to war with each other though - that's a bit of a stretch even for sibling rivalry.

Hah. Well it does get a bit complicated, there. But you don't actually know that story in full, do you. I can't imagine Thor has been eager to tell anyone. His capacities for denial are nothing short of...heroic.

I imagine no one knows the story in full except for the two of you - and, like you said, Thor has his own way of looking at things.

I heard the story from Barton, at least insofar as Barton tells stories.

[He laughs.] Then I shouldn't recommend relying upon that.

Though I suppose it is a nice story to cast me as villain, and I excel at playing that role.

And if not that role, which would you have picked for yourself?

The one I was always told would be mine was that of King.

[He shrugs.]

While that still holds a certain appeal, definitely not in this place. But either way, 'tis much better than tool or puppet or discarded relic.

Now that I'm dead, though, that opens up the field in an interesting way. I'm still deciding.

[Discarded relic - he knows who that jab is aimed at and purses her lips.]

I suppose now you could chose any path you wanted: hero, saviour, villain, family man.

[Oh Peggy. Some day you will realize that all of Loki's nastiest barbs are actually aimed at himself.]

I suppose so.

Can't say I'm enamored of hero. It already got me killed rather thoroughly once.

Being a hero nearly always does.

If you could choose a new story then, what would you choose here?
