File #001 audio;

[She's been in Luceti for a day now. A day was more than enough time for the wings to stop hurting, the shock to wear off, and for her to find her old uniform and dress a little less like a girl on her way to primary school in the summer. A day was long enough to learn that this place wasn't entirely hostile and that it was extensive, reaching from the beach to the mountains and out until she hit an invisible wall that seemed to cut her off from whatever lay beyond it.

A day was also long enough to realize she was stuck and that the book was a method of communicating with others. People seemed to talk freely over it and she wasn't the only one arriving either. Captain Nathan Spencer, Peter Parker, Eugene, Sue Richards, Noel Vermillion - names that meant nothing to her, but it indicated that people came and went here according to someone else's agenda.

It hadn't taken her long to find the Guide, either, and after skimming through it, she felt a bit more...well, level was probably the best way to describe it. She's taken to hiding out in the woods for now, waiting to assess the situation before she moved into town. Now there was just one problem that remained: revealing herself to the enclosure and to possibly hostile elements.

As I'm not the only person to recently arrive to this place and I'm sure you are all quite tired of repeating the same welcome speeches, let me introduce myself and be brief about it.

Agent Carter, British Royal Military.

Any information not to be found in the guide already so helpfully provided would be appreciated.

They call you up, send you to war.

Got a little more than we bargained for I think. There was a disease, drove people to attack mindlessly before they died.

The enemy contracted it first. Transferred by blood and saliva and the things they turned into had the awful urge to bite.

I'm fairly sure war will never change, maybe the weapons and the tactics, but not the general methods. Although where I'm from they generally only take volunteers.

They weren't exactly capable of rational thought by the time the infection took hold.

Where you're from? I could be mistaken but I don't think Britain has compulsory military service anymore.

It was awful. We lost some good people.

[That gives him pause and it isn't as though he keeps up with what the British military does, but he likes to know the basics.]

Wait, this may be strange but, what year is it for you?
asthehawkflies: (The hell are you doing?)

They developed a cure just in time. But yeah.

[He sucks in a soft breath at the year, another piece of the puzzle, a suspicion, but he won't make a decision, not without more intel.]

2012.

The Malnosso, they'd ordered an evacuation and they were going to bomb the compound the infection was in. Found the cure just in time to stop that happening.

[He can understand her surprise. The others have only got a couple of weeks on him and that's strange enough.]

Very relative. A lot has changed in the world, Agent Carter.

Yeah. They worked so hard. The least I could do was hang around and keep the enemy off their backs while they worked.

[And now here's a moment of truth, perhaps.]

Agent. Agent Clint Barton. I work for an organisation called SHIELD. The Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division.

It was founded by certain individuals who were involved in an organisation during World War Two. The Strategic Scientific Reserve.

[Filter. Heh, so he was right. He likes being right, especially about this and... Steve. Oh god, Steve.]

I had my suspicions. Didn't want to make assumptions before I had enough information.

Agent Margaret Carter of the SSR. One of the founders of SHIELD.

Howard Stark. I don't want to pile too much onto you at once, but Howard Stark is here.

[And maybe that would give her enough to chew on to keep her occupied.]

Right. I just know what I've read in the files SHIELD has. Agent Carter it is.

Unless there's another Howard Stark around.

[He pauses for a moment thoughtfully and then decides that she'll probably find out about Tony on her own. Or from Howard. Better them than a stranger.]

My pleasure. If there's anything I can help with, don't hesitate to ask.

[That is a much easier question to answer than he'd been fearing. He would answer if she asked, but probably better not to dive into the whole Captain America and Tony Stark issue right now.]

Ammunition comes up sometimes in the item shop. Otherwise, you can earn points from doing missions for the Malnosso. You can use those points to buy ammo you need. If you're just wanting to keep up with marksmanship, you're as well using the computers in the Battle Dome to simulate whatever weapon you need rather than using your own ammo.

Otherwise, might want to pick up a weapon that doesn't use ammo.

[Don't mock the dark ages ma'am. He's very attached to his own ancient weaponry.]

I haven't been on any myself, although I was intending to before the draft came up. Could be anything. Combat, recon, research. Retrieving items and information. Being a test subject. There's a lot of things depending on your individual skills.

[True, but a lot of them are just very sharp.]

SHIELD Agents have a lot of skills. We have a pretty wide mandate. Scientific research, counter-terrorism, managing threats, espionage.
