[She's been in Luceti for a day now. A day was more than enough time for the wings to stop hurting, the shock to wear off, and for her to find her old uniform and dress a little less like a girl on her way to primary school in the summer. A day was long enough to learn that this place wasn't entirely hostile and that it was extensive, reaching from the beach to the mountains and out until she hit an invisible wall that seemed to cut her off from whatever lay beyond it.

A day was also long enough to realize she was stuck and that the book was a method of communicating with others. People seemed to talk freely over it and she wasn't the only one arriving either. Captain Nathan Spencer, Peter Parker, Eugene, Sue Richards, Noel Vermillion - names that meant nothing to her, but it indicated that people came and went here according to someone else's agenda.

It hadn't taken her long to find the Guide, either, and after skimming through it, she felt a bit more...well, level was probably the best way to describe it. She's taken to hiding out in the woods for now, waiting to assess the situation before she moved into town. Now there was just one problem that remained: revealing herself to the enclosure and to possibly hostile elements. ]

As I'm not the only person to recently arrive to this place and I'm sure you are all quite tired of repeating the same welcome speeches, let me introduce myself and be brief about it.

Any information not to be found in the guide already so helpfully provided would be appreciated.

[That earns Peggy a grin.] Definitely not on your back for the first couple of days. I’m more of a side sleeper, though.

Try to keep yourself busy. When there isn’t something else happening, time moves pretty slowly around here.

Have you found anyone from your world yet?

...As of yet, no, but I'm sure some must be here if I am.

It's entirely possible. There are quite a few people here from the same place I am.

Peggy Carter. [Females automatically get a bit of better treatment, especially considering this one is intelligent and not like the typical soldier-girls she runs into.]

It's a pleasure, Ms. Potts. I'm not quite certain if it is a shame or blessing to have others from home here.

Both. [Her voice softens, but Pepper doesn't hesitate when she answers.]

Is there anyone in particular you might look for? I know a few people here.

The only one I could imagine is a man named Stark. Howard Stark.

I don't see what the year has to do with my answer.

Because people can be brought here from any place, or any time.

Howard Stark is here. But depending on when you're from [or what universe, but that's a topic Pepper doesn't want to broach yet], he may not be the man you know.

[Stark is here then. That...sucks for him. But it'll be good to see a familiar face.]

1949. How do you know him?

I met him here. I'm from 2012.

[1949 means that Peggy's from almost the same time period as Howard. Pepper's relieved to hear it, for both their sakes.

But it also raises the question of who else Peggy knows.]

Does that mean you know Bucky Barnes too?

[And what about Steve?]

Sergeant James Barnes? Yes. I knew him briefly when we worked together.

I take it he's here as well?

He is.

[And it’s probably only a matter of time before he responds to the entry himself, if he hasn’t already. Pepper wonders if it might not be better to let Bucky or Howard tell her the rest—that Steve’s here, that Steve survived back home, that he’s dead now—but they’ve already suffered so much. Bucky in particular.

Maybe it’ll be enough not to tell her everything. Or maybe she doesn’t even know Steve, although Pepper’s been here too long to count on that.]

And Steve Rogers?

Ah, so he is. [Because there goes the message and wow, what. That is just brain-breaking. She was certain he was lost to them and now here he is, talking to her like it's nothing. Luceti, you break her brain.

And Pepper, you break her heart. It takes her a moment to compose in order to answer that question and even when she does, it's a thin, cold voice as she presses back on emotions she hasn't wanted to feel for 4 years now.]

[The silence stretches too long, and her words are too controlled after. There's more between Peggy and Steve than a working relationship, but if she's from 1949, then she's from years after Steve crashed.

When they all thought he had died.]

He's away from the village right now. [There's no way Pepper can tell Peggy about what happened after that reaction. But at least he'll be back. That's something.] He should be back any day though.

Have you found a place to stay?

I see. Thank you. [End of discussion for her mostly because it's still too raw and thinking on it will just destroy her. Put it out of mind and she can move forward. She can survive and be a leader and do what needs to be done.]

As of yet, no, but I've noticed several flats and a few houses seem to be unoccupied.

You’re welcome. [Pepper can only imagine the things Peggy must be feeling in that moment, so she’s glad that the woman seems just a quick to move away from the topic. She knows Steve is there too, and that’s enough. Anything more would just be cruel and unnecessary, especially since Peggy’s already got so much to adjust to.]

There are. More flats than houses. Were you looking at any place in particular? I can probably tell you if it’s available.

At the moment.... [No, not really. She has no idea where the others are living or even if she wants to be near them. Stark, Barnes, Steve - things could get awkward if it isn't what she thinks.]

No, but I shall keep you informed. The Centre is open for those without lodging, correct?

Yes, it is. [Pepper doesn't try to guess whether Peggy wants to be near Steve or away, but it's not hard to reason that might be the source of her hesitation.]

They live in the first community building. Steve, Howard, and Bucky. They share an apartment.

[Just so she knows.]

[Except she really hasn’t. Pepper knows there are countless gaps she could fill in for Peggy, but that she shouldn’t. Just what should Howard tell her, or Bucky, or even Steve when he gets back? Not only about what’s happened in Luceti, but also in their world.

Well. Maybe there’s something Pepper can prepare her for. In the grand scheme it’s a minor thing, but all those small details add up quickly.]

Has a man named Tony Stark contacted you?

...No. The only Stark I know is Howard.
