[A weekend of lost memories - it sat poorly with her, especially when she went back over her notes and found them missing as well. The dates for the weekend were written in her hand, but anything she'd written had been erased. Or maybe she hadn't written anything. The most concerning thing was that now that the weekend had ended, several people had gone missing or returned. Two days was a long time to lose her bearings and it made her restless. Which was why she'd gone to the shop to look around for anything useful.

Last thing she expected was to find the glove and eyeglass set - something so useful just left here like it was a new toy to be experimented with by anyone in the village. Something about it drew her to using it, but after the first day and the headaches, she realized it was probably something that belonged to someone. Which is why a few days later, after the headaches settle, she asks the village.]

Agent Carter reporting in with a few questions for the village.

One: Has anyone lost a pair of these? [She holds up the sunglasses, labeled ARI on the side to the camera.] I located them in the shop - interesting technology you have. I'd like to return them, if you're inclined to receive them.

[It packs one hell of a punch anyway, and she does not want that anymore. Peggy rubs her temple as he sets the glasses down out of view.]

Two: Sparring partners - hand to hand combat, preferably advanced non-magic practitioners. Willing to train people new to it, but more looking for practice myself. Can also train or spar in weapons - guns or knives specifically.

Three: On a more personal note, to my roommates - if you don't start cleaning your areas and picking up your things, I will do it for you.

[She looks straight into the camera with her usual no-nonsense look in her eyes.]

You will not enjoy it if I am forced to do so.

Thor hardly needs any spying - all I need to do is listen and I know where he is.

Loki, however, is much better at keeping quiet about his affairs and the people he's chosen to include in them.

Sometimes having a bit of boredom is just what a hero needs, though. So he can help with building bookcases for all the books you must have shoved in your closet right now.

Especially during war and times of duress. [She watches the axe fly and she lets herself smile a little as the dummy drops to the ground.]

But here, at least, there is relative peace - until the drafts start again. Then we might just be needing men like you and me again.

How often do the drafts take place?

Well it's hard to be quite that manipulative if you can't keep a few secrets quiet. What's brought this one, anyways? Why the sudden interest in Loki?

[But she didn't find her profession distasteful. It was necessary and not something everyone could do.

Carter held her hand out.]

It was a pleasure sparring with you, however. Perhaps we can continue another time?

Too much of a routine can be bad for your health. I'll see you tomorrow then.

[She signs off until the next time they've planned to meet.

So it's like hunting in your world - you have to kill them, unlike with people.

[Peggy nodded her head in return to the salute and signed back.]

[Then, she slipped her shoes back on, smoothed out her hair and, on the way out the door, took a silver briefcase out from where it had been hiding.]

[So that was when things had changed. Peggy remembered his disappearance, but hadn't realized so much had gone on in the short time he was away. She'd been watching, but she was always watching since habits died hard.] Ah, I see. A rather unfortunate jaunt it seems.

As for what I want? Peace in the village - without people's hackles raising at the mere mention of each other. I've had enough of tension with the war.

[Peggy smiled, looking down for a moment.]

They're more for sport than anything else, but should a real battle present itself, I would be honored to fight at your side as well. I've heard stories of what you could do, and it should be quite impressive to see it with my own eyes.

[Easy smiles are the ones she trusts the least, Jayden. She studies him for a moment, but nods not long after. She'll just have to keep an eye on him - a close eye - because the last thing she needed was to feel guilty for causing someone some sort of illness because she gave them back an experimental bit of tech.]

Then seeing as you are the owner, I'll trust you to be responsible. I'm sure you will be.

[She stands, tugging the edges of her suit jacket down as she does so.]

Is there anything else you require of me, Agent Jayden?

Unfortunate for me. I purchased the life of my brother in battle with my blood, so he's doing well enough, I expect.

I don't see how that is really under my control. I am what I am, Lady Carter. And as a dead man, I find I have few concerns left in the world.

It depends.

[She frowned, thinking back on all of the drafts and missions she'd been on.]

There are missions running constantly, unique ones that crop up every so often, but drafts come when the Third Party attacks or the Malnosso choose to go on the offensive. Residents have hardly any notice save for a message telling people to report to the teleporters or be dragged there against their will.

[No notice could make it difficult to coordinate with Erwin - they could potentially be separated and cut off from communication as a result. They're strong enough to fight on their own, but it'd be easier to fight together, and to be able to watch out for Marco and Jean, also.]

Is there no way at all to get out of these drafts?

As far as I have seen? No.

[Her arms folded over her chest as she remembered TERRACE and the little boy's death. They'd done everything they could to keep children from the field and Henry had still run out and died. Both Bucky and Steve had been wrecks until the boy returned, and even after that... Well, she knew why Steve wanted to have Henry live with them.]

All you can do is be ready when the time comes - you have a night, at most, to coordinate, and then time before the battle begins, but never count on anything going smoothly. War is war.

Yeah, pretty much! We don't let it go to waste though! Well, unless it's poisonous then we leave it but otherwise, we're not wasting it.

With people though, when we do end up fighting them, we do tend to snag some of their stuff though.

I've always had an interest in him - ever since Barton told me of what happened. I've just noticed a change in his behaviours as of late, and I'm curious as to why.

[....The life of Thor? He actually sacrificed himself for Thor? Peggy almost raised an eyebrow at that, but kept her reaction internal, instead lowering her eyes as if she was realizing something new.]

But you still have concerns, perhaps not in that world, but in this one. And it concerns us all to keep the peace here, don't you agree? I'd rather not have someone start a fight because you pushed them too hard in the wrong direction, or vice versa.

Yes, I would suppose a poisonous creature shouldn't be used for anything other than developing anti-venoms.

...wait, you steal from people?

[His eyebrows go up slightly.]

If someone is fool enough to find the limits of my patience, I will do what I deem necessary. I am no creature to be tamed, Lady Carter.

Neither are you so foolish to do something brash that might cause you grief - or so I hope.

[Dryly:] I am well versed in the cause of my own survival when it comes to the use of my tongue. But your concern is very dear.

Concern not just for you, but for whomever is stupid enough to press your buttons. Especially considering your apparent change of heart in regards to your brother. I thought the two of you didn't get along.
