Yeah, I am. Had a...bit of a run in with something. No big deal, but I'm stuck here until the doc thinks she can let me out of her sight.

Pretty sure I'm the only 'stay in' patient at the moment. Seems to be quiet, too. Not much going on.

Appreciate it. The quiet rarely lasts long.

Mind telling me about the "something"? Or is it no longer a threat to the village?

[Derek pauses. considering his answer. On one hand, he doesn't want to start an ~~orc~~ witch hunt on one of the other New Feathers.

On the other, the guy is pretty...um...violently inclined. That, and he hears the underlying tone of her voice and how she put that request. Sounded military.

As far as I know, threat's over for now, but that's probably because no one else has pissed him off enough. Not exactly friendly to humans, seems to be a warlord of some sort on his own world. Emphasis on 'war'. Big ego, too. Managed to impress him enough that he took me to the clinic instead of killing me, but I wouldn't bet that would be his regular M.O., depending on who was dealing with him. Definitely doesn't like being challenged. Got here this cycle, same as me.

[That. Is a most definite threat. Even in her current state, she knows when to take notes and this conversation is now going to be recorded in a private journal once she returns to her lodgings at the welcome center - if they're still there. She frowns, pausing in her trek back to the village.]

And did you at least notify someone else of this threat?

Pretty hard not to when the guy took me to the clinic himself. As to whether or not the Doc passed that info to anyone else, you'd have to ask her.

Pretty sure though if he was still acting up someone else would have already mentioned him being in the neighborhood. He's not exactly subtle. Hard to miss, too. Big, green, has tusks. Doc called him an 'orc'.

[Ugh, people. She'll never understand why they feel the need to keep such important information to themselves. She'll have to look into this and assess whether or not this "orc" is a threat to the rest of the village.]

...I see. [It's also possible that he's merely killed the others and no one has noticed yet. ]

The "doc" you're referring to is Doctor Mizuno or another physician?

[She'd really hate Derek's world, then. Keeping your mouth shut, especially to civilians and people not already in the know, is the status quo.]

Doctor LeBlanc. She either runs the battle dome clinic or close enough, from the way she runs around the place.

[There's a slight tinge of bemusement to that observation.]

Not sure if she's here at the moment, though.

[Some things? Sure, keep it quiet. Make sure there isn't a mass panic and breakdown of society. But other things? Well, leaving someone who sent someone to the hospital unchecked just seems dangerous.]

I'll contact her to hear details if it's necessary later. Right now my main concern is finding the village again.

[No credit for trying to keep the peace, and prevent a hero/'villain' fight from leveling the place, huh? Ah well.

Derek shifts a little in his bed. Living village life through this journal was a pain in the ass, which could be taken literally ,right now since he couldn't really get up and stretch, and hadn't been able to in several days. Being laid up in bed was not the hunter's idea of any sort of fun.]

If I knew the area a little better, I'd start asking you for landmarks. Unfortunately, recon has been a little bit difficult lately. You have someone else who can come find you?

New as in just came in with this set of people, yeah. Not-so-new as in I've been here before, according to some folks. Sounds like I took several months off and dumped my memory of this place somewhere.

[Wait, so they can just erase the memories? Peggy gives pause to that train of thought, wondering if she'll go home to just forgetting she'd ever seen Steve again. It isn't a pleasant idea.]

...Perhaps for the best. It isn't always the most pleasant place to be and perhaps those memories weren't such that you needed them..

...If we're in a war zone, and surrounded by enemies, I kinda think I'd need them. Would save time in trying to play catch up instead, if nothing else.

Been through army ranger training, yeah. No official records on me, but the unit I was assigned to needed my skills. Had to make sure I could keep up.

[If she had, it wouldn't be any different than many encounters from his own world; despite the danger, the higher ups in his own world tended to try and keep the 'problem' quiet. At least she wasn't calling him a liar to his face.

No, fortunately. The worst we've had is alien technology and men aspiring to become gods. Rather tame compared to vampires, I suppose.

I've heard of the alternate realities here - odd to finally run into it.

Honestly, the alien technology and god hungry men would be pretty wild to me. At least I know how to deal with vampires.

Yeah, this place seems to be one big smorgasbord of weird stuff. Still get surprised when I talk to some folks. Pretty surreal, all things told.
